The Humane Society of Douglas County in Superior, Wisconsin was looking for a completely new website with a refreshed, modern, and engaging design, easy navigation, mobile responsiveness, and updated features. The goal of the new site was to be visually appealing with photos throughout the site, while also streamlining navigation making it easier for site visitors to locate adoptable animals, make donations, contact the shelter, or learn about upcoming events and fundraising opportunities.
This was one of my favorite sites to work on! As an animal lover – and having worked for a humane society for many years – this was a cause near and dear to my heart. Being able to help people find animals to adopt and support a local shelter was incredibly rewarding and uplifting. We incorporated several interactive features to keep the site fresh and encourage repeat visitors, including adoptable animal profiles, latest news and events, donor and honor/memoriam recognitions, and online forms for volunteer and other engagement opportunities.
