Liz Engelke is a talented artisan in northern Minnesota who creates stunning handmade jewelry, crochet and macrame crafts and gift items, and also grows and sells a variety of plants and seeds. She has been selling her products for many years through various outlets, including local art fairs and craft shows, and online third party vendors, such as Etsy. She reached out to me to discuss the possibility of creating her own website where she could market and sell her products while limiting the out-of-pocket costs that had become prohibitive with third party sites. By hosting sales on her own website, she is able to significantly reduce her overhead while still managing her own online storefront with much more control.
The new Gardens and Gems website features a full e-commerce solution with customizable products, inventory tracking, sales/featured items, coupon codes, automated shipping calculation, and secure payment processing, with a web-based back end product management and order tracking system. Liz is able to manage her store from anywhere.
In addition to the online store, I also created a new logo design for Liz’s combined business, to incorporate both her jewelry-making and her plants. I created a brand identity package with fonts, colors, and logo, as well as assisting with creating marketing materials and display signage for her in person sales events. We also established an electronic newsletter so she can stay in touch with her customers and alert them of upcoming sales events, in person craft fairs, and other announcements.
It was a pleasure working with Liz on this new site! I am always amazed and inspired by the talents of local artisans, and love helping them show off (and sell!) their products.
